What happens if my child is not accepted by a SAILI high school?
You are responsible for applying to and being accepted at a SAILI high school. We encourage you to apply to the school closest to home plus at least one other. The key factor in being successful is applying on time with all the correct paperwork. Even if you are not accepted in the first round of offers, it is likely that you will be on the waiting list if you have applied on time. SAILI is then able to advocate for your child to be given a place when it becomes available. As a backup plan, it is a good idea to also apply to the school your child would go to if you do not have a scholarship.
What is the income threshold?
Gross family income must be below R15000/month to qualify, and each student’s financial need is verified through documentation. The educational package you receive will depend on your family income and number of dependent children. The maximum support offered is school fees plus R5300 for approved educational needs.
Who is going to pay the fee deposit when my child is accepted at a SAILI high school?
SAILI will pay the fee deposit. When you decide to accept a place, send us the letter of offer from the school by either

Who signs for “responsibility for fees?”
As the parent, you sign for responsibility for fees. Do not, however, sign for an automatic deduction from your account. SAILI will contract with you promising payment of fees and the fees will be paid directly from SAILI to the school. Your contract is with the school. Our contract is with you.
What happens at schools where SAILI is only paying part fees?
SAILI has “fee deals” at Bergvliet, De Kuilen, Milnerton, The Settlers, Pinelands. At these schools we pay partial fees. The schools are aware that our families are low income and they expect you to apply for a fee subsidy/exemption. You are responsible for applying to the bursar and supplying necessary paperwork, usually by February of each school year.
