How to Apply

Take the Next Step Toward Your Future

Who Qualifies

To be eligible for a SAILI scholarship, your child must:

  • Be in Grade 7 in the year that testing takes place
  • Achieve strong results in Mathematics, English and Natural Science
  • Come from a household with gross monthly income below
  • Be willing to apply to one of SAILI’s partner high schools

One important note: Applying to a SAILI partner high school is your responsibility. SAILI does not apply on your behalf. Acceptance to a partner school is required before a scholarship can be awarded.

A guide for Parents

Before you apply, please read this carefully: your child must apply to and be accepted at one of SAILI’s partner high schools. SAILI does not place learners at schools on your behalf. This is your responsibility as a parent or guardian.

Our current partner high schools are:

  • Mondale High School
  • Spine Road High School
  • Centre of Science and Technology (COSAT)
  • Siphamandla Senior Secondary
  • South Peninsula High School
  • Rylands High School
  • Claremont High School

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications open 1 November of Grade 6 and close end of February of Grade 7.

Complete the online application form and submit the following documents to the email address on the form:

  • Grade 6 report — all four terms

  • Parent/guardian ID documents

  • Child’s birth certificate

  • If your child is not a South African citizen — a valid study visa

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to write a Mathematics assessment. Details will be communicated to you directly.

Please note: Testing takes place before WCED high school applications open online. We encourage all applicants to apply to a SAILI partner high school via WCED.

Successful Round 1 candidates are invited to write a second assessment. Exact dates are communicated during recruitment.

Shortlisted Round 2 candidates undergo a financial review. Household income and financial need are verified through supporting documentation.

All applicants are notified of the outcome by mid-May — before WCED school placement results are released.
