Opening Doors to Opportunity

Through STEM-focused High School Scholarships

Our Approach

SAILI provides scholarships to high-potential learners from under-resourced communities, connecting them with high-performing local schools with strong Mathematics and Science results.

We partner with schools that are academically effective and rooted in the communities our learners come from. Learners stay close to their families, their peers, and the places they know – building a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride.

Over time, learners develop accountability and a pay-it-forward mindset. The impact doesn’t stop with the individual – it ripples through their family, their school, and their wider community.

Why STEM

Mathematics and Physical Science open doors. They are the gateway subjects to engineering, technology, the sciences, and some of the strongest career pathways available in South Africa.

Yet for many learners – particularly those from under-resourced communities and young women – these pathways remain out of reach. Not because of ability. Because of access.

the Scholarship

The SAILI Scholarship is a five-year programme – Grade 8 to Grade 12 – for academically strong learners from under-resourced communities who meet our financial eligibility criteria. This is subject to learners meeting academic requirements as well as other milestones each year.

It combines two types of support:

  • Financial Support –school fees, uniforms, and essential learning materials
  • Programme Support -academic guidance, mentorship, and personal development throughout high school

The learner Journey

Five years. One learner at a time.

Each year builds on the last – with clear milestones, growing responsibility, and increasing independence. Academically, personally, and socially.

How It Works

Learners receive ongoing academic support, regular check-ins, targeted interventions, and workshops throughout their journey with SAILI.

Progress is monitored. Support is adjusted. Continued participation is based on meeting academic expectations and engaging fully in the programme.

How we Support

Financial Support covers school fees, uniforms, stationery, and learning materials – reducing the financial barriers that keep capable learners out of good schools.

Programme Support includes academic guidance, mentorship, workshops, and shared learning experiences. We pay close attention to emotional and social wellbeing – because we know it directly affects learning. We refer where appropriate.
