Hi! I’m Thandeka maseko from mpumalanga ,I’m in need of a Learnership especially in nursing but I don’t have matric, grade 11 so please help me I really need to further my studies.
If you are too old to go back to school, I suggest you contact your local college – Ehlanzeni College, Nkangala College or Gert Sibande College. They will also do a careers assessment with you and advise you as to how to obtain a vocational matric. You can’t go into nursing without finishing matric. Otherwise you could look and see if you can train as a Home Based Carer in your area, this is a position that assists nursing sisters with home visits in your community. Check at your local clinic and ask if there is a program available.
Hi Kath i’m nompilo do you think they will take me at school i’m turning 25 next year i wanna go back to school to do matric wanna do Nursing after
Hi, you will be better off to go to a centre that has adult matric- http://www.abet.co.za/adult_matric_study.html or go to TVET College and do your National Vocational Certificate, which is equivalent to matric- http://www.fetcolleges.co.za/Site_Public_FET.aspx Kath

Hi, You can study early childhood teaching without matric. Otherwise you are going to need to get matric or at least an N4 equivalent. You can ask at your local TVET College what they have to offer. Or you can ask at your local library or community centre if anyone in your area is offering adult matric. Kath

Hi. I would like to have a learnership so that i could become a retail manager i failed my matric in 2012 please help to get a learnership
Hi Zimkita, I haven’t heard of retail learnerships. This is a good website to find learnerships -http://www.careerplanet.co.za/learnerships however you generally need to have matric. Why don’t you look for a job or go to your nearest TVET college and see what courses they can offer you?
Guyz….i would like to know that if i can apply for bursary in westcol campus..Because i left school in grade11,i want to apply for an administration,Tourism etc…..as i left school about 2012,it is possible to apply?
Hi Ben, Yes Westcol offer the National Vocational Certificate (NVC) in Hospitality or Office Practice. The NVC is funded by NSFAS. You start by going to the college for a careers assessement and intake test (maths and english). They will then guide you to apply for the course that is right for you. When you are accepted you apply to NSFAS for a bursary for your studies. You will gain a qualification at the same level as matric but with a career focus. It will take you 3 years.
hi,is it possible to do nursing for 3yrs nd gain qualification as the same a matric?
No, you need matric to get into nursing. Whilst there are vocational matrics that allow you get matric and also study in a particular work area there is no vocational matric pathway for nursing. It only exists for hospitality, safety and security, electrical technology, business administration.

Hi, I don’t think you can get a learnership without matric. The best thing would be for you to go to your local FET college and have a careers assessment. They can advise you best as to your way forward.
Hi
I’m currently in grade 12 and am looking for a learnership in the region of management or anything similar for the duration of 2016. Any other learnerships would be good too. Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Sandile, I looked for this for another student a year ago and I didn’t really find anything. She ended up taking a junior position with a fundraising company and has earned a reasonable salary with them. She is going to study accounting at UWC next year. There are learnerships listed on career planet – http://www.careerplanet.co.za/learnerships May be you will see something for you. They refresh often so keep coming back to look. Kath
Hi im angela jacobs i dropped out of school when i was in grade 10 please help i would like to be a nurse but also has a finance problem a single mom with two boys 7 and 1 can anybody help me please
Hi, You will need to finish your matric if you are going to be a nurse. If you enroll at a TVET college you will get a government bursary so it won’t cost you anything except your own hard work.
Hi I’m currently looking for a job I have grade 11 and I have worked as a receptionist at a private college for a year and I’ve done lots of in store promotion,I’m also doing sales management through distance learning. Can you help me myb with websites where I can get jobs that do not require matrix..thanx
Hi, I don’t think there are any websites like that but have you looked on gumtree for a job? Would you consider going to college and getting a certificate? It might help with getting work.

If you only just got your qualification, go back to your college and ask them to help you find work.
Hi,I dropped out of school an was doing part time matric last year but I didn’t pass,I think is because I was not attending any lessons, and I have decided to go and register with Damelin high school to get matric certificate but I can’t afford the payments, I wanted to know if there is any help I can get to pay my fees and the registration?
Hi, Damelin have their own bursaries I think but otherwise, there is no help you can get because they are a private college. If you register at Cape College for the NVC you will be able to apply for NSFAS funding.
hi im karabo I Have failed matric so i want to study to become a boiler maker,So i wanna know if there’s a college fee’s you can help me with or anything you can help me with becouse im sitting at home doing nothing so I would appriciate your help
Hi, You should go to your local TVET college and tell them your dream to become a boilermaker. They will be able to give you some extra maths classes to help your maths get up to level for the boiler maker course. If you tell me where you are I can tell you your nearest college.
Hi I wanted to futher my study at any college offer grade11 to matric I want to enrol but have no money for registration and so on I want to know how can I get help or where because I need to know college I’m goint to and if I’m already registered student how can I get help?I’m from bloemfontein
Hi, You can’t register for Gr 11 at college anymore. You can do the National Vocational Certificate (NQF2-4) at TVET colleges. It is funded through the NSFAS bursary so you shouldn’t have to pay any fees at all.
Hi am Caroline i left school when i was in grade 11 i would like to be a fire_fighter.please help
Hi Caroline, As far as I understand, you will need your matric to be a fire fighter. You could go to FET College and get your matric via the National Vocation Certificate – Safey and Security in Society. You will find that the subjects are quite different to a school matric and give you insight into safety and security vocations. Once you have the matric you can look for positions to be advertised by the Fire Services and then you can apply. They will give you on-the-job training.
Hi
My name is Anna , I have passed grade 11 with symbol c since 2007, I would like to be a nurse ,I am looking for help to further my study’s by doing nursing with basury.
Kind regards
Anna
Hi Anna, There are bursaries available for nursing. Look here – http://bursaries-southafrica.co.za/bursaries-for-nursing/
Um Nolubabalo Nkwenkwezi…I was doing Grade 12 last year but I didn’t pass cuz they ddnt put my Xhosa marks there so this year I’m doing I.T Support nd I would like to pass my matric..what must I do?
Hi, I think the first thing to do is find out what happened to your Xhosa marks. Did you school register you for Xhosa? If they did, and it was omitted on your certificate, you can contact the department of education and ask them to correct the error – http://www.education.gov.za/CertificationServices/tabid/592/Default.aspx This seems like the most likely explanation.
Hi my name is Lebo am 28 years am a school leaver at grade 8 now I want to thunder my studies in abet where can i go and how much does it costs

Hi, If you actually go to the college and apply, you will find that you do not need to pay fees. Your fees will be covered by a NSFAS bursary provided through the college.

But now I’m interested in safety and security I would like to be assisted with fees and soo. I’m situated at jhb. which good institutions should I apply to. And are the registration still opened.
You can apply for Safety and Security at your nearest TVET college. If you don’t know where your nearest college is, let me know where you live and I’ll look it up for you. You will need to apply to start in 2017. It is a three year course.
Hi I did my safety in society applied at Correctional Services and Saps but there’s no luck

Hi Ayanda, Where do you live? Are you in matric? I know Gauteng just closed for the govt bursary. If you were in matric you could have applied. Have a look here for some ideas: http://bursaries-southafrica.co.za/bursaries-for-nursing/
Hi I leave in cape town no I don’t have matric i only passed grade 11
I can’t find any bursary though in Cape Town for someone who doesn’t have matric. This college doesn’t have a minimum entry requirement but you do have to write a test. http://www.nursingacademy.co.za/nursing-academy-auxiliary-course.php This website says you need matric: http://www.careerplanet.co.za/careers/medical-health-life-sciences/nursing/auxilliary-nurse Sorry I can’t offer more help.
Hi I’m Thobile Mngomezulu I want to do nursing but I have grd 11 passed can I do nursing without matric and I have no money to pay my fees can I get NSFAS to continue with my studies I’m a orphan please I need help my life is falling apart
Hi, As far as I can see, you can’t get into a nursing course with a bursary if you don’t have matric. I suggest you go to your local TVET college and find what courses they do have for someone who only has Gr 11. As you must be interested in helping people, you can look at the NQF4 Social Auxillary worker learnership with Social Development or Educare, Home Based Care or Community Development at TVET College.
Hey am Lebogang,i did grade 12 but i didnt pass it well n i hv drivers licence,,,i desparetly need a learnership for paramedics.plz help me

Please help me i dont have matri but i need to study nursing and i need to get matric first i dont have money help
You can get a vocational matric certificate by studying through your local TVET College. NSFAS fund these courses with full bursaries.
hi am itu and i am 36yrs old,i dnt have a matric,i have gr11 i wnt to obtain matric please help.
Hi, There isn’t anyway for you to finish your matric now because the school system has changed. However that doesn’t mean that you can’t study further. TVET Colleges offer some NQF4 certificate courses that you would be eligible for. This is a certificate that is the equivalent study level of doing matric but it is for a particular vocation – like cooking or office management. If you want to study at University you may find that you are able to apply without matric because of your age and also if you have been working in the field and you can show that you are competent with reading and writing in English. If you tell me more about why you want to get your matric, I can give you more specific advice.
Hi Kath I dropped out of school while I was doing grade10,so I wanna know wat can I do to get grade 12 or do I have opportunities to do a cause like p
Boilermaker or civil
Hi, Your nearest TVET college will have options for you. You can do the National Vocational Certificate which is equivalent to matric but with a trade focus. It is sponsored by NSFAS. Otherwise you can take a N1 or N2 course at college. If you phone ahead you should be able to see a careers advisor (for free) and they will help you select a course. All the best, Kath
Hey am mihlali skosana I pass my matric last year and am looking for free/bursary colleges for Information Technology courses around eastern cape or western cape… Plz help
Hi, If you got to a TVET College you can get the Government NSFAS bursary. There are TVET colleges all over South Africa. There is a list of TVET Colleges here: http://www.careerhelp.org.za/page/education-training/fet/list-of-fet-colleges/746666-List-of-FET-Colleges-within-South-Africa

Hie, Am Steven Ramofe and I live in Polokwane am 26 years old, I leave school in Grade 10 and know i want to do boilermaker and i don’t have money. I don’t know where to get money to study my course any help please.
Hi, I think you need matric with maths and physics to study to be a boiler maker. If you let me know where you live I can refer you to your nearest TVET college. They can do a careers assessment with you and help you choose a course of study that you are eligible for. Most of their courses are government funded so you won’t have to worry about fees.
I live in Polokwane and at school i was doing Maths and Physics. I need serious help to carry on with my studies.
Capricorn College is your closest college. You can complete your matric doing a vocational certificate. Here is a list of course options: http://capricorncollege.co.za/courses.php You can get NSFAS (government funding) for all these courses so you won’t have to worry about fees.
um thando I don’t have matric I faild grade 11 i want to be a nurse plaese help
Hi Thando, I haven’t found any nursing options for people who didn’t finish matric. Where do you stay? I can refer you to your nearest TVET College. They will be able to do a careers assessment with you and help you find a course of study that you are eligible for.
Hi Im looking for learneship I need to do technician, i see http://www.availablelearnerships.com and i want to know what do you thing about that website
Hi, I honestly don’t know much about learnerships. I do know that it is like applying for a job. Companies advertise when they want to employ a young person to train them up. In all the ads I’ve seen, you need to have matric and sometimes you also need to be studying at TVET College. If you haven’t applied to college, I would suggest you do that. Kath
hi,kath i sent u message on the 13th u did not respond u wanted info about me bcos i hav sent sms before that one.
Hi am millicent i wnt to do nursing i dnt hv matric m 24 years old. Help me
HI Millicent, I haven’t found a way for it to be possible to study nursing without matric. Some TVET colleges offer Community Health studies which you might be interested in?
hie am kgabo…i failed my matric…but i wanna do social worker…is it going to be very easy for to can get a learnership?

Hi my name is louise id like to study at westcol collage for educare N4 – N6 BUT i dont have matric im 25years old i did however study at collage SA a few years ago and obtain my certificates in child development can i do my N4 – N6 at westcol or do i need a matric??? Please help
Hi Lousie, You need your matric or an N4 to do the NDip (N4-6). If you got an N4 in your previous study then you are fine. Also You may find they will accept you without N4 due to your age. You should contact the college and ask them: http://www.westcol.co.za/how_to.html
Fail matric in 2009 and want 2 study safety and society but need help with a accommodation bursary plz help and transport.
Apply to your TVET college for the course and ask them to assist you with applying for the NSFAS bursary.
Hi.Am Rebaone from north west,I would like to study law but I didn’t pass ma matrix,am asking for help.
HI Rebaone, you have two options. 1. You can rewrite matric. If you didn’t pass then you are eligible to go back to school. You can otherwise look for a matric rewrite program in your area. I don’t know your province so I can’t help you with that. There are some online options if you can afford to pay. Just google “Matric rewrite online”. 2. You will need to think about why you want to study law and see if you can find another job that gives you the same things that you thought you would get from law. Like may be if you are someone who really likes people and talking you should look for a job with a lot of interaction with people.
hi my name is bridget i live at polokwane i passed my matric with higher certificate and i have an N4 qualification in public relations.i want to study at capricon college here in polokwane, will i be able to enrol and study there using the N4 qualification since they only accept diploma and bachelour?i am 20years old.
Hi, From what I see of their website they ONLY offer certificate courses. As you have matric and an N4 certificate already you would be eligible for any of these certificates. They will not build on your current qualification though as they are all Vocational Matric Certificates. I suggest you look somewhere else to study. http://www.capricorncollege.co.za/courses.php Rostec looks like it is more what you are looking for: http://www.rostec.edu.za/maincourses.html Choose a National Diploma N4-6.
HI
Please assist. 7 years ago i dropped out of Grade 12 because I had to work to support my family. I am currently doing my matric and have been working as a petrol attendant for the past 7 years. After I finish my matric, in which fields would my work experience give me an advantage?

So please can you help with some advice how can I do , I really need to go back to school because I tried to looking for a job but because I don’t have any education I couldn’t find any job ,I didn’t left the school because I was to. Something happens when my parents passed away there was no anyone looks after me ,take care of me so I decided to come n looking for a job and in that case I field too .
Hi Chris, I would like to try and help you. How old are you? Do you have South African residency or a work permit?
hi my name is Nomsa… I have failed my matrix and I am currently studying Transport and Logistics at a TVET.. what are my chances of finding employment?
Hi, TVETs offer courses in scarce skills – that is skills we really need in our community but not many people have. This means that as long as you finish your course you should be in a very good position to find work. Get as much work experience as you can, even volunteering. It all helps build your CV and shows an employer that you know how to behave in a workplace.
Hi,im virginia i would like to do traffic copper but i only have grade11 what should i do?
You will need to go back to school and complete Grade 12.
Hi,im virginia i would like to be a traffic copper bt i dont have money to study it what should i do
Hi, As with all government armed/ security services (including traffic police) you don’t pay to be trained, they actually pay you. Look out for a learnership in your area. There is one available in Gauteng at the moment – http://myjobslocate.com/item/municipality-metro-police-learnership-20162017-5241.html
Hi my name is Ntombi i recently graduated in IT at University of Venda. Since May i have been applying for internships but no luck. I moved to springs Gauteng i dont know the place and im always indoor. What other suggestions do u have for me to get oppotunities for employement.
It is always hard to get your first job after graduating. It takes an average of 6 months so don’t give up yet! Plus you have moved and have no contacts. Anything you can do to build up your CV and show that you are employable will help. University gives you technical skills but it doesn’t show that you are a good person to have in a work place. Employees want to know that you will be reliable, honest, communicate well, be a team player, problem solve, be self-directed. The only way to show that is to either volunteer regularly somewhere or get an entry level job (not in IT) and get a great reference from this place focusing on you as a person (not about your skills).
hey, i am kgomotso a 29 year old with grade 9 and NQF level 4 in Generic Management, i wish to study social worker but wonder if ill qualify for NSFAS bursary
Hi, NSFAS decide on who to fund based on your current academic achievement, your course of choice and your financial need. Social workers are on the scarce skills list so your course choice is good for NSFAS. As long as you can demonstrate financial need and you get an offer of a place at a tertiary institute, I would think that NSFAS will fund you. If you want to find out more though, you should ring them directly and talk through your case. Kath
Hi, Kath
Firstly I would like to thank you for the hassle you go through to provide us with the valuable information. Thanks a lot.
I’m Tyson from Johannesburg South and I’m 25 years of age. I dropped out of school (Grade 10) in 2009 to look for a job (to support my family) I did basic computer skills and security (E,D,C,B,A) during that time. Now I would like to join any program be it an NGO, a program that has to do with security or any Learnership(won’t hold my breath for a Learnership) do you know any that will accommodate me? Before you answer my question what do you suggest I must do?
Thank you
Hi Tyson, it is hard to get a learnership without matric however your security qualifications are needed. There are jobs out there for you. This is a good job search website. You can also think about where you would like to work and take around your CV. If you target big employers (like Metrorail) then you will have a chance of promotion and further training. http://www.indeed.co.za/
Hi am zingi currently doing matric at school i’m not doing physics or mathematics now that i know what i wanna be wich is to be a nurce i was wondering if they will accept me at varsity or collage to do nurcing …..please help
If you have maths lit and life science code 4, there are nursing courses available at some universities of technology.
i pass my Matric but i didnt pass mathematics .do i qualify for boilermaker cuarse?
Hi, You will need to go to your local TVET college and write their maths entrance test. They will use that to determine whether you are able to manage a boiler maker course. If you are struggling with maths they will make other course suggestions to you based on your interests and abilities.
Hi am moses I did matric but I didn’t pass it,and am interested in health n safety ,am from pta plzzzz help me out,am willing to put all my knowledge ,focus to be one of professional health n safety
Hi, I think you are going to need to get your matric if you want to study further in health and safety at a diploma level. There are online certificate courses available from SAMTRAC – https://www.nosa.co.za/training/top-training-courses/list-of-courses/samtrac/ I suggest you find a job listing you are interested in and see what certificates are required as a guide for what you should be doing. It can also be a good idea to get a job in a big construction company, even starting out doing laboring. Big companies offer opportunities for gaining skills and job based qualifications.

Hi, You DO have matric. Your NC(V) is the same level as a National Senior Certificate – Matric, they are both N4. Any job that requires matric, you can apply for. You can also consider studying further and getting your National Diploma in Financial Accounting or study to become a book keeper. Book keepers are in high demand.

Hi, There really don’t seem to be any learnerships for young people who don’t have matric. However you can study IT at your local TVET college and should be able to get NSFAS funding. Go and apply at TVET and also apply to NSFAS. They are open now. http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/loans.html

Hi, I replied to you by email. As you are at a private school they are allowed to chase you out for not paying fees. I don’t know about your final exams though and suggest you phone or visit the Education Dept Exam Help Desk: (013) 766 0033 Toll free Line: 0800 203 116 or go into the Dept of Education and ask:
Government Boulevard, Riverside Park, Building 5, Mpumalanga Province. Hope it works out for you. It does sound very stressful. Kath

Hi my name is Talifhani i dont have a matric but i want to attend Fet college next year. i want to know if is possible to enter a university not university of technology but a traditional universtiy like university of stellenbosh with a NCV because i want to do Bsc(agric)-SoilScience in years to come. meetsitalifhani@yahoo.com
Hi, Yes it is possible to enter university with a NCV however the requirements are different to a NSC. Generally you need stronger marks from a NCV.
It’s me Talifhani again i need to know the deadlines to apply for a NFSAS busary meetsitalifhani@yahoo.com

Hi im lee i am 16 left school grade 7 i want to go back but they said i am to old to go back to grade 7 i really want to learn i becom sum1 in life but i dont know what to do plz help me plz if u can plz i wonder if i can go to college and study ecd
Hi Lee, You will need to do your ABET (Adult Basic Education) levels first. ABET III is equivalent to completing Grade 9. Once you have that you can apply for ECD at college. I know it is a bit of a long road but if you are committed you will get there. Education is important and it’s worth putting in the time. If you can’t find an ABET course in your area then you can also study it through UNISA.
I have N2 electrical but I struggle to get a learnership/ apprenticeship. Can you please help?
hi am Brighton ,I failed my matric so I want to study a paramedic course ,it will be possible for me to study it ?
Hi, My understanding is that you need to have matric however the best way to check would be to go to your local ambulance station and ask them!
Hi I’m Anita I passed NCV level 4 in office admin from 2010 I’m straggling to find job and I’m getting older im 34 yrs this year mother of 3 boys plz help east london
Hi Anita, N4 is a basic qualification. Have you considered upgrading? If you did a National Diploma in Office Admin N4-6 at your local TVET college you would be eligible for NSFAS funding and would be much more employable afterwards.
Hy i left school at matric early this year im 18 years and would really love to write my matric i’ve been trying to register but many school say they dont take first time matric student nor some colleges Im around Gauteng is there anywhere you know that the’ll help me please i really need this
Hi, Did you go back to your old school and ask to register for Grade 12? Otherwise I suggest you phone the department of education and ask them to assist you to find a place: (011) 355 0145. If you go to college you will have to do the National Vocational Certificate and it takes 3 years, you can’t just do the final year. There are private colleges that offer matric – http://www.abet.co.za/adult_matric_study.html
hie i am tshegofatso i left school when i was in grade 11 and i want to go back to school bt they are saying i am to old for me to go back to school i am 20 years old

Hi my daughter finished her matric in 2016, she wanted to go to Holland and Aupair but can’t go because don’t know what the Agency did. Now my daughter want to study Educare & Child. She want to do teaching, but I am a single mother and can’t afford to take her and study for what she want. Who can help us by getting a bursary or scholarship.
Hi, She can study Educare through a TVET College and get funding from NSFAS. She should phone her nearest college and make an appointment to see a careers counsellor. The appointment is free. They will help her choose the right course and show her how to apply to the college and also to NSFAS. NSFAS is not open yet for applications but TVET Colleges are open. All the best, Kath

Hi, Your best option will be to take a National Vocational Certificate (NVC) at college. It will take you three years. You will get a matric equivalent certificate at the end but it will also focus on a job option. Go to the college this week and find out about it. Address: Corner Koma Road And Molele Street, 822 A Van Onselen Rd, Johannesburg, 1863 Phone: 086 176 8849
I was definitely anxious as a child, but, I much improved as I got older. I found myself quite shy in the school and self conscious. I’m pretty envious that these days kids can learn so many amazing things from the comfort of their home. http://www.jelt.com

Hi, I’m not sure what you are asking. Try again?
I want a learnership especially for reseptionist I don’t have matrix but I have grade 11
Hi, Go to your local TVET College and apply for an Office Admin Certificate. Then they will help you find work when you are done. If you don’t know where your nearest college is, tell me where you live and I’ll look it up for you.
Hi my name is frans.I have passed,3 subjects,1 home language 2 english 3 boilogy does that mean I have failed.?
The minimum pass level is 3 subjects at 30% and 3 at 40%, one of which must be your home language. If you only passed 3 at 30% then you haven’t achieved your matric certificate yet. If you want to find a rewrite program please email me at kathsaili@gmail.com and tell me where you live. Otherwise you can register at your nearest TVET College for a National Vocational Certificate which is equivalent to matric. The rewrite programs are mostly free and TVET is funded by the government NSFAS bursary so it shouldn’t cost you anything.
Hi Kath
I’m Katie from Grabouw I left school last year in grade 11.What steps should I take with out any hassles to get my matric certificate?
Hi, You can do an adult matric through Brainline. It will take you two years. You do have to pay and you need access to a computer and internet. https://www.brainline.com/ Or you could go back to school. Or you can go to a TVET College and to a National Vocational Certificate which is equivalent to matric but has a career focus. It will take you three years. TVET Colleges are about to start for the year so if you want to go that route, you should go and register today.
If I have fully completed my two years on brainline. What steps should I take next?
hi I’m Mabunhle I want to know that how can I apply for nsfas maybe I can be able to apply online or and also I want to know that if I can register end of march I can be able to found a space for to study educare .
Hi Kath!
I’ve failed my matric in 2002 with 2 subjects, and i have a couple of IT certificates under my belt. What i would like to know is that is it possible to start with Information Technology and Computer Science NCV Level 4 as it’s equivalent to matric or do i have to start with level 2? Thanks in advance!
Hi, as you are a mature age student you should be able to register for N4. Go and ask at admissions at the institute you are interested in.
Will N4 together with a failed matric statement grant me an opportunity to study at tertiary level
? As I would like to start with my diploma in Information Technology next year?
If you have your N4 you should be able to use it for an application for a Diploma. Speak to the admissions person at the institute you want to apply to and check that they have a way of recognizing your N4. Even though it is legally equivalent to matric, some institutes don’t have the systems in place to assess applications on the basis of something other than matric. So you have to keep talking to them and reminding them you have N4.
Hi i failed matric i want to study media at creative act collage in durban can i get NSFAS
Hi, You can’t get NSFAS for private colleges.
Hi,I’m Confidence Zitha is it possibl e to apply for bursary while you have ABET level -4?or can I study nursing with ABET level -4 certificate
Hi, ABET 4 is equivalent to passing Gr 9 at school (NQF1). You need Gr 12 equiv or NQF4 to apply for nursing. There are other courses you can do though. Go and ask at your local TVET college. They are registering now. NSFAS is still open for funding applications for TVET.
Hi I’m ayanda wow long time i apply for these learnerships.i just have bad luck. I failed matric i need help i need this. My contact 0785396827.

Hi…. I got a grade11 n want to go and do nursing, is it possible??? Im located at johannersburg,so where can i get a school and the name of the school please…
Hi, You need matric to study nursing.
Hi i would like to know,i wanna further my studies i left school doing grade 9 and i want to obtain a metric certificate what must i do
Hi, I just heard about a good low cost option where you study online. It is the American GED (General Education Diploma), equal to a NQF4 – matric certificate, but without a Bachelor Pass / Matric exemption. So you can study at TVET College but not at university. https://passged.co.za/ If you tell me more about what you want I will be able to be more helpful.
Hi ..am thabiso i left school after failing my grade 9 after my both parents died i only live wth my sister pls i need help i dont knw what to do ….the point is i wanted to be a police..compulsory i wanna build my future i need help pls
See my other reply. After your ABET you should take Safety and Security in Society at TVET college. It is a good preparation for applying to the police force.
Hey am thabiso i left school at grade 9 compulsory my both parents are died i dont hv option to take cn u help me pls i need help
Hi, If you didn’t pass Gr 9 the best thing to do is find an ABET (Adult Basic Education and Training) course in your area. Register for ABET level 3, which is equivalent to Gr 9. From there you can apply to TVET college to study further. They will be able to advise you on your career path. All of these courses should be fully funded so you don’t need to worry about payment. If you tell me where you are I can look for an ABET course for you.
Uhei um khutso from burgersfort I’ve failed ma matric twice……so i lyk to go further ma studies but I don’t hv money…….um now dunno wat do I wanna know if is possible for me to get a bursary or even learnership if possible pls

Go and apply at your nearest TVET college. They will advise you which courses you are eligible for and also tell you how to apply for the government NSFAS funding.
Hey
I’ve received a mssg from NSFAS says :DEAR STUDENT, YOU ARE provisionally FUNDED PENDING REGISTRATION AT PUBLIC TVET COLLEGE FOR THIS CURRENT REGISTRATION.
And they also gave me a REFERENCE .
So I dnt understand this messg
pls help me to understand.
Once you register you will be funded. Make sure that your tertiary institute knows that you have NSFAS funding. They will notify NSFAS that you have registered then NSFAS will prepare the loan contract for you.
Hi Kath.
My son left school in grade7 a few years ago 18 years old now, he been asking me for months now to help him go back to school as he realised he made a mistake..the only thing is he struggles a bit to read but very good with the hands like. Please please please help
Hi, If he is going to study further he needs to start with ABET (Adult Basic Education and Training) levels 1, 2, 3. When he has level 3 it is equivalent to passing Grade 9 and he can apply for other trade qualifications at a TVET College. You can google for ABET providers in your area or if you let me know where you live I can have a look for you.
odwa Tsolo eastern cape need a job plz help plz 0603357607 i have grade12
Hi Odwa, it is easier to get work when you have a higher qualification. Go to your nearest TVET College and talk to them about your career options. Register for a course for second semester. You will be able to apply to NSFAS for funding.
Hi I failed grade 11 last year..so I really want to study..so is it possible for me to get learnership ??
Hi, As far as I know you can only get learnerships with matric. Rather go to your nearest TVET college and see what you can register for: http://www.fetcolleges.co.za/Site_Public_FET.aspx
Thanks for your reply..
So since then I don’t money to study ,if I do apply for abusary will I gt it??
TVET colleges offer courses in trades that South Africa really needs people to qualify in. Because of this big need the government offers funding to study at TVET Colleges. The college will help you with the application for funding.
my name is Mpho and I was doing matric last year so I failed I want to study Tourism Management but my mom lost her job what can I do?
Hi, You can do a National Certificate (Vocational) in Travel and Tourism at your nearest TVET College. The course is covered by NSFAS bursary so you won’t have to pay for it. It will take three years and give you a qualification equal to matric but with a focus on the career you want.
Hi my name is Lise. I only have grade 7 because I just could not cope at school. I did grade 8 twice and then dropped out. The pressure was to much. Im turning 17 soon, but i realy want to study further, im very interested in health and beauty can you give me some advice on how to get back on track. Where can i go to study or even try to make my grade 10. And is it possible for me to get grade 10 without doing grade 8 over again.
Hi Lise, You do not have to pass Grade 8 to do Grade 9 and you do not have to pass Grade 9 to do Grade 10. However you do have to pass Grade 10 to study Beauty.
You can look for an ABET course – Adult Basic Education and Training. When you have completed ABET III you have the equivalent of Grade 9. Taking a quick guess based on the literacy shown in your query, you can probably start with ABET III and not need to do ABET I and II. With ABET III you can apply for an NQF level 1 course which is the equivalent to Grade 10.
You could also possible just do Grade 10 online without completing ABET III. There are lots of really supportive online learning methods available. Check out Brainline for online learning options.
Once you have Grade 10 you can apply for Beauty Therapy NQF 2 and go from there. http://www.cct.edu.za/what/beauty-therapy/full-qualifications/beauty-therapy-itec-diploma-level-2-3/ You do need to pass Grade 10 first though.
If you want to discuss this more you are welcome to email me at kathsaili@gmail.com If you tell me where you live and whether you have access to financial support it will help me to advise you.
Thankyou for responding so quickly. I live in Dundee, KZN. Where does a person go or who can I contact in connection with the AEBET III course. I dont think finance will be a problem as long as a person, can pay it off?
Here are some links that will help you find your nearest ABET trainer.

Hi my name is Tshidi Im 30yrs i have matric and license looking job plz help.live in cape town
I wanna know if is wise to go for Gauteng city college for matric rewrite coz I failed my matric in 2009
Hi, I don’t personally know anything about this college. It is private so you will have to be able to afford the fees up front. It is always worth it to improve your qualifications though. Just make sure you check out the payment plan carefully and understand what they are offering in terms of support. You can also ask about their results from last year.
I I am cynthia I want to go bck to school an finish my study I left at grade 9
If you are still under 18 years you can go back and register at your school. Otherwise you can do the National Vocational Certificate at a TVET College: http://www.fetcolleges.co.za/ If you did not pass Grade 9 then you will need to do ABET IV first (which is equivalent of grade 9). ABET stands for Adult Basic Education and Training. You can see places to study here: http://www.abet.co.za/adult_matric_study.html
Hi..I am Maria from Johannesburg so I did my matric last year, and obtained bachelor degree pass with 47% physics and 57% mathematics. My question is if I apply at college and do Electrical Engineering( N4-N6)…will that qualification help me to enroll at UNISA to study BSC or BEng? please help
Hi Maria, UNISA have bridging options for people who’s marks are not quite strong enough. They will put you on an extended year program to let you catch up your maths and physics strength so that you can complete the BSc. UNISA do not offer a Bachelor in engineering. They do offer the same National Diploma with the option of the fourth year – BTech, which is equivalent to a Bachelor degree. If you are interested in engineering your best route is the National Diploma N4-N6 at UNISA, University of Technology or TVET College. This is a very good qualification and an area where there is great need for new graduates. You will be able to get a good job. You can apply from your NDip for a BEng later if you want to or do the BTech (4th year). To see how to bridge your physics at UNISA for the NDip go here: http://www.unisa.ac.za/sites/corporate/default/Apply-for-admission/Undergraduate-qualifications/Qualifications/General-admission-requirements/College-of-Science,-Engineering-and-Technology
hi am Tebogo i finished my matric in 2014 and i dont have money to further my studies i will be glad if you could help me to do nursing or to become a social work please
There are bursaries available for social work: http://bursaries-southafrica.co.za/department-of-social-development-bursaries/ You apply for a tertiary place to study social work at the same time as applying for the bursary.
There are learnerships available for nursing in your specific province. Google “department of health nursing learnership (and your province name)” There are also bursaries available. As for Social Work, you apply for the bursary at the same time as applying to tertiary. http://bursaries-southafrica.co.za/bursaries-for-nursing/
i will be glad if i get money to further my studies because i have matric certificate and i dont want to stay at home forever
First find a TVET College course you want to do then apply for the course and apply for NSFAS funding. The college will help you with both applications. To find your nearest college go here: http://www.fetcolleges.co.za/Site_Public_FET.aspx
Hi my name is Brandon i left school after grade 10 I am years old and wondering if I could just do a matric course? instead of doing Grade 11 then Matric ?
I am 22 years old
Hi, I think it’s going to take you two years. Brainline offer an adult matric over two years online: https://www.brainline.com/products/brainlinecompact/ Some community centres also offer adult matric. This website might help you find one: http://www.abet.co.za/adult_matric_study.html Kath
Hi, my name is Dorecia am having a younger brother who is struggling in class , his 19 and his doing grade 9 , he is very slow when coming to school things, but what i can tell his very good in drawiing and dancing ,please help the sister out to help youngr brother. i tried so hard to help him and i even find him tutors who can help him because my wish is to see him finishing his matric but ey, he dont make it and now his thinking to quit , what can one do please!
Hi Dorecia, You need to encourage this boy to do what he can to pass Grade 9. There are options for trades at TVET colleges once you have grade 9. Trades are very practical – things you do with your hands. Probably your brother can be very good at these. But he must pass Grade 9 to get a chance at one of these jobs. Where do you stay? Kath
Hi I am Tshegofatso 21years from Gauteng Pretoria West I have grade,I attended tut in Pretoria west was studying management but I dropped out cause of financial issues ,I am looking for a learnership/internship or any job so that I can continue university
Hi, Did you withdraw properly or just stop going? If you properly withdrew then it doesn’t stand as a failure on your record and you are in a much better position to get help now. Did you have NSFAS funding? One way to get to work and study is to get a job with the government. You start on an entry level position and you then apply to them for funding for further studies. http://www.gov.za/about-government/government-vacancies Kath
Hy am vuyokazi from gauteng am currently doing grade 12 but i have took 3 subjects for this year wich are english, life science and geography so i would like to know would i be able to apply for busarie in 2018 for 2019 while i will be doing my last 3 subjets for now i have abet level 4
Yes, you apply for bursaries the year before you hope to study. I think I understand that you have ABET 4 plus are now studying for matric over two years? You don’t have grade 11? I’m not sure how that’s going to work. I think some bursary organisations will not accept your application but others will. You’ll have to see for each one. You also might struggle with NSFAS funding as you won’t have a set of combined results until a couple of months after your second set of results comes out. I suggest that you phone each bursary scheme/ NSFAS that you are applying to and talk it through with them. Kath
Hi I’m nakita and I’m 19 years old. I left the children’s home and my family does not have money left get my 10, 11, 12. Im trying to get a job to be able to get my 10, 11, 12 but I’m battling. What do I do, I’m out of options!
Hi, If you have passed Grade 9 then there are options for you at TVET College. TVET courses are funded by NSFAS so you won’t have to pay. Make an appointment to see a career guidance counselor at a college and they will help you select a course. http://www.fetcolleges.co.za/Site_Public_FET.aspx
Please help me I need to do something with my life… I have matrix and I have N4 certificate in business management… is it possible to apply at Unisa and upgrade myself
Sure you can apply to UNISA with an N4 or you can go to a TVET college or University of Technology and take a National Diploma (N6). Where do you live?
im joseph,25 year old & I failed grade 12 and I went to Capricorn TVET college & I did NCV LEVEL 2 & 3 then I failed to continue with my studies because of financial problems so I need help
I hope my request will be considered, Thank you
Hi Joseph, SAILI doesn’t provide financial support for TVET colleges. Do you have South African residency? If so you can apply to NSFAS for funding. Kath
Good morning,
My name is Poppy and I’m a 35year old with no Matric certificate. I registered to start Business and Office Management, IBS level 4. when I complete this level. I’ll have access to Chartered Institute of Secretary to study their program.
My question, is IBS level 4 the same as NCV level 4? Can I use IBS level 4 to study LLB taking my age into consideration.
Thank you in advance
Hi, Your IBS program is accredited at NQF4 level. This is the same level as the matric certificate. You can apply for tertiary study with it and your age will also be taken into account.
hi I’m Brenda I passad metric and I want to do nursing pls help me I’m from polokwane

Hi Brenda, please whatsap or email me your matric certificate and I’ll see what courses you might be eligible for. kathsaili@gmail.com or 0613904470 Kath
Hi, I am 16 years old and in grade 8, lives in Virginia in the Free State, can I go to college or must I have grade 9 behind my name. I really want to work with my hands, my dad died 2 years ago and my mom do not really have money for college, would I be able to go to college or must I finish with grade 9 first
Hi, You need to pass grade 9 before you can apply for college. You will be able to get government funding through NSFAS to pay for college. Kath

Hi, Please see my reply to Mahau, right next to this comment. Kath
my name is doreen i left school at grade11 now i want to work at a bank.how can i get a busary or a learnership.
Hi Doreen, My understanding is that you need matric or matric equivalent to get a job in a bank. I suggest you contact your nearest TVET college and see what they can offer you to get you up to NQF4 level. http://www.tvetcolleges.co.za/Site_Public_FET.aspx Kath
Hi Kath!
My name is Katlholo from Mafikeng but currently in Johannesburg. I’ve failed my matric in 2000 with 2 subjects which are Accounting and Mathematics. I would like to register for the ASC for those 2 subjects but now replacing Accounting with Business Studies. What I would like to know is that, as I already passed Business Economics is it possible if I add Business Studies or is it one and the same subject? And the other thing that I would like to know is that, is it possible to register in Gauteng while you wrote your matric in the North West province ?
Hi Katlholo, I don’t think you can upgrade/ rewrite subjects from the old syllabus anymore. Are you hoping to study further once you have your matric? If so, you might find that you do not need to pass matric now due to your age. Tertiary institutions offer a mature age exemption, meaning that because you are older you do not need to meet matric entrance requirements. They may ask you to write an entrance test and then give you some bridging subjects for your first year. UNISA definitely does this and I expect you can find other institutions who will do it also. Kath
Hi i want to study safety and society and nsfas did not fund private colleges where cn i apply a bursary that will fund my studies , they approved me nd next month we are starting with the class pls help
Hi, I don’t know of any bursaries for private universities or colleges. Sorry. Kath
hi Kath. my name is Quinton, i studied matric n passed with a ”D”, so i was wondering here, i want to be a teacher, but my problem is my points are less as of 23 points bcoz i forced my studies writing in a hospital, and i became an afternoon class of commerce helper with accounting and economics for grd 11 n 12, n that was only for 2015 n i went out to look for a job bt cnt find the best to pay my studies bcoz my problem is i hv dependents. Plz help me. Thanks in advance
Hi Quinton, Here are some options. 1. In the year that you turn 23 you can apply for tertiary study without meeting minimum matric requirements. You apply with a mature age exemption. You may need to write a letter of motivation in which you explain what happened with your matric, where you have been working since and why you want to become a teacher. 2. You take a national diploma at a TVET college. You can apply for NSFAS (government) funding for this. Choose something that might be helpful to teaching like office administration or public management. Once you have the diploma, if you still want to study further, you can use it to apply for a teaching degree. 3. You take another qualification that will let you work with children, like child and youth care worker or social auxillary worker. Both of these you can study with your Matric Diploma. All the best, Kath
hello Kath, i am a 29 year old with grade 9 and NCV level 4 qualifucation and would like to study nursing or social worker as a second option, will i qualify for a NSFAS bursary?
I replied to you on email.
Hi My name is Benedict

Hi, Unfortunately it is very late in the year to be looking for a scholarship. Most organisations, including ours, have awarded scholarships for 2018 already. I suggest you find a school you would like your daughter to attend and see if they have their own bursary fund to apply to. Kath
Hi iam Hellen I ha
ve done abet level 4,can I do teaching with it
Hi, ABET 4 is the same as Grade 9. You still need to get matric before you can study to be a teacher. Don’t give up though. If you have a passion to be a teacher, you will get there.
Hello Kath, I’m doing grade 12 this year and I’m confused about what to do next year. My marks June results are not that good. I need advice in what to do… should I apply for a bursary with my low marks? because I really want to further my studies.
or should I apply for a learnership?
Hi, You can send me your results at kathsaili@gmail.com and tell me what your study interest is. I will do my best to advise you. Kath
Hi i am looking for the leanership or company that can pay for me so i can do healthy and safety I passed my grade11 but did nt pass my matric so am interested in doing health and safety course
There are quite a few available. You just need to google “health and safety learnership”
Hi I completed my matrix 2015 with 24 APS (minimum bachelor).i do like to be a paramadic I’m in Germiston please help
There are two ways to become a paramedic. Firstly your local ambulance service can advertise positions when they become vacant. They provide on-the-job training. Go and ask them what they have available and what they can recommend for you. Alternatively you can study to be a paramedic through UJ, CUT, DUT or CPUT. Read more here – http://www.gostudy.mobi/careers/View.aspx?oid=47
hi I’m Sneh I was doing matrix last year and my accounting was ommited, what should I do from now on?
Hi, You need to contact the department of education. If you live close by one of their offices, I recommend that you go in. Otherwise, you can phone. https://www.education.gov.za/AboutUs/ProvincialDepartments.aspx Kath
Hi keth,my name is Sandra am 20years,I failed matrix in 2015 I passed only 4 subject but I want to father my studies I want to be a fashion design and a actor, I don’t have money am a orphan I lives a polokwane atok between lebowakgomo and atok .
Contact Capricorn TVET college and see what options they have that you are interested in. Most of their courses will be eligible for NSFAS (government loan) so you won’t have to worry about fees and transport costs. http://www.studentroom.co.za/capricorn-tvet-college/ All the courses they offer are needed in your community so it will be easy to get work. You won’t be able to study acting though but there might be something in design that you like. All the best. Kath
hi,my name is prudence, I am 27 years old,i live in northern cape, but now im in jo’burg,i dropped out of school in 2008,i was in grade 9,so i want to complete my studies,i want to get a matric, and im looking for a job,pls help me
Hi, You need to find a place that offers ABET 4, this is equivalent to Grade 9. Try asking at your local library or community centre for where you can go for it. Once you have ABET 4 you can apply to a TVET College to study further. Kath
hi I’m Percy , I dropped out at grade 12 and I’m seeking to became a metro police or apply to the academy so how do we apply
Hi Percy, you will need your matric to apply to the police. They advertise their recruitment in the newspaper and online – like advertising a job. Kath
Hi keth I passed my matric this year with a diploma but failed math, can I do nursing at any nursing school
Hi, Unfortunately you can’t do nursing without passing maths. I can offer you better advice if you email me your results: kathsaili@gmail.com or whatsap 0613904470 Kath
Hy keth I’m nonkululeko and I have been repeating grade 11 for 3 times so I ended up drop out school one of my friend advised me to go back to school only to find out it’s to late for my age I’m turning 21 this year and i want to study further for civil engineering I don’t know what should I do
Hi, I suggest you go to a TVET College and take a National Vocational Certificate (NCV). It will give you matric equivalent and you can take some engineering subjects as part of it. So then you will be on your way. NSFAS bursary funds for NCV. You can try and get in for this year but they may be full already. Kath
Hi, my name is Helen.I live in Vosloorus, I could like to ask if it’s possible for me t to do a Matric at the age of 38 turning 39 years. As now this days is the new curriculum and I was doing old curriculum. What can I do to do my Matric. Cause I have passed only 3 subjects. And as I’m not working can I possibly get funding to do my Matric. I’m in need of changing my life for the better future. Please help me if it’s possible. Thank You.
Hi, It is never too late to get your matric. You will need to do all your subjects again. You can’t combine your old matric with the new syllabus. You need to find a centre offering adult matric classes. Often these classes are in the evening and either free (run by volunteers) or low cost. Ask at your nearest community library or community centre. Kath
Hi my name is Bongiwe I have a abet level 4 certificate I would like to further my studies. But I don’t know how to go about it or which courses are available at Tvet colleges for am individual like me and would like to know if I can get funding for my studies plz help
There are options for you at TVET either to do an N2 trade certificate or complete your matric N2-N4 over three years. You will be able to get funding through NSFAS. The college can help you choose a course and also help you apply for funding. All the best, Kath
Hey i was doing matriC on 2015 i had to leave school in august because i was sick now i want to complete my matric in a new school what can i do please help i am at umlazi
Hi, You should be able to just to go a school and register. You will need your end Grade 11 report from your previous school. It will also help if you have a transfer document from your previous school. Kath
hey kath
kamo here….I’ve passed my matric n I did qualify fr Nsfas BT the problem is tht ….the college tht I applied fr its a private college n they don’t take Nsfas so which bursaries or scholarships do I qualify for especially if I passed matric with a diploma?
Hi, You should see if you can still get space at a TVET College. TVET colleges are funded by NSFAS. If you don’t get space this year then you will need to reapply for NSFAS for next year. Find your nearest TVET here: http://www.tvetcolleges.co.za/ Kath
Hi I have NCV level 4 which is not complete and I did Abet level 4? cal I study BED in the university? of can I get a job for my certificate?
Hi, You need to complete N4 before you can apply for further study (BEd). You can study Early Childhood Education at a TVET College with your ABET4 and there is government funding available through NSFAS. All the best, Kath
greetings, ,my name is salome and I am from North west in rustenburg. I am currently doing abet level 4 and I would like to be a nurse. what do I do after getting my certificate and can I get a bursary with level 4 certificate ?pls help.thank you
Hi Salome, I just spoke to you on the phone but I’ll post a reply in case someone else has the same question. ABET4 is equal to Grade 9. You need matric to get a bursary for nursing. You can study for a National Vocational Certificate (NVC) at a TVET College. It takes three years. The certificate is equal to matric and you can go on to nursing from there. All the best, Kath
Hi my name is Nokubonga, if ABET4 is equal to grade 9 does it means I can’t do reaching or nursing even if I’m ready to pay for the fees
Hi, There are some courses you can do without matric, as long as you can pay the fees. You will need to check the entry requirements. I don’t know of any that you can do with ABET4/grade 9 only though. Sorry. There are other hospital jobs you can get though like Hospital Porter. All the best, Kath
hi. am Suskie its possible to study fire fighter without matric?…i have grade 11 an N3 mechanical engineering
Hi Suskie, Fire stations offer learnerships to young people. They advertise the placements like they would advertise a job. I’m not sure if they will take you without matric. The best way to find out would be to go to your nearest fire station and ask. You can’t study firefighting at university of technology, without matric. Kath
Hi Kath,I passed my matrix last year with a Diploma indorsement, and want to study teaching with all my heart, that is the reason why I got back to school in the first place.I stated with grade 10 in 2015 and thnx God now I have my matrix at the age of 37.the thing is I don’t qualify for BEd as I I did not obtain Bachelor endorsement,I don’t know why to do pls help,I heard about mature age exemption do I qualify?thnx in advance.
Hi Johanna, Well done on pushing yourself to reach this dream. Don’t give up with this setback. Mature age exemption means that they you don’t have to meet the same entry requirements as young people on the basis that you completed matric years ago and now have relevant life experience. If you have just done matric now, I’m not sure if it’s going to work for you. The best idea is to phone admissions at the institute you would like to study at and discuss it with them. I have heard that some people got into teaching with a matric diploma at TUT. UNISA offer some bridging courses if they are not sure that you can manage the full work load. You can study early childhood education with a matric diploma. You can also work as a classroom assistant – although the pay isn’t great. The final option is to rewrite one or two of your subjects. If you think this could work for you, please send me your diploma: kathsaili@gmail.com and I can advise you more. All the best, Kath
Hi dear I didn’t my matric but I didn’t pass . Right now I have applied at skills academy for short course can I be able to study with bursary?
Hi, You can get NSFAS funding at a TVET college for certificate courses but not at a private institute. All the best, Kath
Hi Kath
I read some of your responses and I must say you doing an excellent job directing those wanting to further their studies!
I am enquiring for a friend regarding NQF level 4 studies.
He only passed Grade 8. From reading one of your responses above I see he probably needs to complete ABET III, does that earn him an NQF level 1 which is the equivalent to Grade 10? If so, where could he study that? He lives in the Western Cape, Northern suburbs.
Thank you,
Jaynick
Hi, Yes you have it right. he needs ABET 3 which is equivalent to NQF1. He will then need to complete his National Vocational Certificate (NCV) at a TVET college. This will take him to NQF 4. Northlink College is in his area. https://www.northlink.co.za/ The best way to find an ABET course is if he goes to his nearest library or community centre and asks. All the best, Kath
Brilliant, thanks Kath.
Hi Kath my friend only has grade 8 and she wants to do office administration. Preferably an online course.
Do you know of any online courses that would accept a gade 8 ?
Hi, Some private colleges will take her without entrance requirements. She must make sure the course is accredited with the SETA otherwise it won’t be recognized when she applies for a job. Read this blog: https://saili.org.za/building-career-failed-school/ Have a look at the Skills Academy: https://www.skillsacademy.co.za/ All the best, Kath
Hi I want to finish school,I left school in grade11 and really want to do grade12 in 2019
Hi, There are a few options depending on your age and how much money you have. You can simply enroll back in school and do Grade 12, as long as you passed Grade 11 and you don’t feel too old for that. You can register at a TVET College for a Vocational Matric. That will take you three years to complete but it is funded by NSFAS. https://saili.org.za/tvet-colleges/ Some communities offer adult matric classes. You can ask at your library or community centre if there is anything in your area. If you have a bit of money, you can complete your matric online through Brainline. All the best, Kath
Hallow am nonkanyiso from ixopo can u help I want to upgrade matric I did matric 2011 and pass bt H can u advice about school can I attend from ixopo or durban
Hi, The best way to upgrade your qualification is through a TVET College as they attract NSFAS funding. There is information here: https://saili.org.za/tvet-colleges/ You can register for a vocational matric or start with a certificate or diploma course. The college will assess your skills and interests and help you decide. Ask to see a careers guidance counsellor. The meeting will be free. All the best, Kath
Hi Kath!
I’ve managed to get my matric Senior Certificate, but it’s a combined N3 and old syllabus subjects that I passed at grade 12. What I would like to know is that, does this certificate grant me an opportunity to further my studies at institutions like UNISA, UJ and etc.
Congratulations! I think you are fine to go ahead and apply with your combined certificate. However, to be sure, ring admissions at UNISA or UJ and just check with them. All the best, Kath
Thanks Kath, much appreciated!
Hi Kate
My child failed Grade11 this year. First time she failed. I dont want her to repeat Grade 11 another year. Is there any way she can do her matric next year and where?
Hi Nolene, Doing Grade 11 again gives her the chance to consolidate her work. When she has strong Grade 11 foundations she will be able to go on Grade 12. I can’t think of a way for her to do Grade 12 without passing Grade 11. This is because the school grade levels are registered with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and each grade is required to be allowed to go on to the next grade. Sorry, Kath
Hi…
I’m doing my grade 12 next year 2019. When should I apply for a learnership for the year 2020?
Hi, You apply after you get your matric results. Learnerships are advertised like jobs so you look for them in the same places you look for jobs. All the best, Kath
hi my name is tumelo nelson sefoloko live in matatiele in the eastern cape i can be happy to have an internship i just have grade 10 and computer literacy working in office national as a general assistance i really dont know weather i do qualify for an internship.
Hi Tumelo, I suggest you contact Khetha for some assistance. https://www.careerhelp.org.za/ They have an online chat that is open during business hours. They should be able to advise you. All the best, Kath
Hi am a school dropout I was doing grade10 before I fell sick few years I’m I able to go back to school.again I need help to start on my grade10
Hi, Your best option would be the NCV at a TVET College. I’m not sure if you can get in for first semester as the year has started already but you can certainly try. You will get funding from NSFAS and the college will help you do the application. They will also help you choose subjects for your NCV. The NCV is a matric level certificate with a vocational (V) focus. That means you will learn some practical work skills as part of your matric. There is a list of colleges here: http://www.tvetcolleges.co.za/ All the best, Kath
Hi Kath,
Could you include our learnership resource page: https://www.joblife.co.za/learnerships
We will be posting new learnerships to this page as they come up.
Thanks
Hi, I’m happy to share links but there’s not much happening on your website at the moment. How about you get back to me when you have some more clients? Kath
Hi im thandazwa complited a degree in the bachelor of arts in communication 2015 .im looking for a job nor internship please help
Hi , I am looking for a learnership or bursary. I have grade 12 and want to study occupational health and safety or ancillary. I already from under a college where I can do it and how much Otis.
Hi, If you study at a TVET college you will get NSFAS funding. There are no bursaries for study at private colleges. You may be able to find a learnership though. Companies advertise learnerships like they advertise jobs. If you look up the companies you are interested in you might find they advertise on their web page. All the best, Kath
I was hoping to become a Police man but i failed my grade 11, is it possible for me to go in College ??
Hi, You could study Safety and Security in Society (NCV) at TVET College. This is a good prep course for the police force and is equivalent to matric. https://saili.org.za/tvet-colleges/ All the best, Kath
Yes
Thanks

Hi Tebello, If you apply at your local TVET College you can study further and get funding from NSFAS. The college will help you with the application. Here is a link to your college: http://www.eec.edu.za/BenoniCampus.aspx Tel: (011) 730 6600 All the best, Kath

Good Morning i am 34 years old and left School middle grade 9 i would like to work towards Matric. how do i go about and where can i find a abet centre in Cape Town
Hi, I suggest you register for ABET III to start with. From there you can do the adult matric. Ask at your local community centre or library to find out where an ABET (Adult Basic Education and Training) course is running in your area. All the best with your plans! Kath
Hi my name is Reagan I’m 24 years old,I leave school grade 8..I would like to finish my school.what can I do? please help me
Hi, You will need to start with Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET). Community centres or libraries can usually advise you where the nearest class is although I’m not sure that anything will be running under lockdown. All the best, Kath
Hy my name is Kgothatso I passed matrix 2015 with higher certificate,i did genaral subject,do I qualify to study caregiver, I’m from Limpopo.

Goodday my name is sello alfred sebeko from jonnanesburg I’m now 27 years old I dropped out of school while I was in grade 11 dew to a bad life that I chose and having to choose bad friends in witch I regret very much I would love to pesue my dreams in going back to school but in lack of funding my dreams are getting shuttered iv tried everything as I want to change the current situation at home having to be the only bread winner of 7 siblings please help
Hi Alfred. You can do your matric at a TVET College but it will take 3 years. I would suggest trying to find an Adult Matric class; speak to your local library or community centre to complete your matric in 2021. You can study further at a TVET college like Northlink or Cape College (anything but Beauty is covered by NSFAS so you can then also apply for funding thru NSFAS. You would need to apply before the end of November 2021 and funding will be dependent on you passing Matric. All the best, Lana
