High School Scholarships 2019, Shortlist!

Congratulations to all 52 learners who made it through to SAILI’s final round of testing.  You are all winners and we wish we could award scholarships to everyone.  If you haven’t made our final shortlist, remember to keep working hard, be curious and never give up.  SAILI is now closed for scholarship applications for high school 2019.  If you missed out on applying with SAILI you can apply to Leisure Education Trust.

The following learners are successful in their application.  To continue with your scholarship application you must apply to a SAILI high school and be offered a place.  If you accept a scholarship with another organisation, please let us know as soon as possible.  To find out more about our scholarship deal, read here.

Hi, You will need to complete your ABET4 – Adult Basic Education and Training, this is equivalent to passing Grade 9. Then you can apply at TVET College to do your NC(V) – National Certificate Vocational. To find an ABET centre, ask at your nearest library or community centre. All the best, Kath

Hi Nanka, If your family is struggling to pay your fees you can apply for a fee subsidy with the school bursar. Go by her office and ask to collect the forms. The School Governing Body will assess your family income and adjust your fees to make them more manageable. You can even do that for this year. There are no bursaries to start in Grade 9 however during Grade 9 you can apply to Capitec. You can also apply to Investec via SAILI (so contact me again in July next year). You need to be a top maths achiever for both bursaries. Also you must take Physics to matric for the INVESTEC/ SAILI bursary. Kind regards, Kath

Hello there:) I would like to apply for next year, 2020 for my daughter. She is in Grade 8 and will be in Grade 9 next year. She is very hard working and determined and cannot afford to put her in a Good High School that she deserves to be in. In term 2 she got 70% and more, her highest percentage in her report is 100%. She attends Belhar High School in Belhar. She is very ambitious and wants to attend a school where she can reach her full potential. Can you please help me turn her dreams into a reality.

      Hi,

SAILI recruits in late Grade 6 to start high school on scholarship or in mid grade 9 to start scholarship in grade 10. Learners must be attending a SAILI high school to apply in mid grade 9. https://saili.org.za/scholarships/partner-schools/

You can apply to a better school in your area and, if accepted, you can apply for a reduction in school fees with the school bursar. https://saili.org.za/what-does-the-law-say-about-school-fees/

There will be other scholarships to apply for during Grade 9 to start in Grade 10- MAD Leadership and Capitec.

From time to time other schools are added to our scholarship list. In your area you could try De Kuillen, Bellville (Afrikaans medium), The Settlers or Pinelands.

      All the best
      Kath
